Oracle Retires Two JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Application Integration Products

Two of Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications integration products—Extended Process Integration (XPI) and Web Services Gateway—have been retired.

Extended Process Integration was withdrawn from new licensing in December 2004. To accommodate customers who have built integrations using this technology, we are extending Premier Support for the XPI 8.94 product version by almost two years—from December 15, 2008 to October 1, 2010. After October 1, 2010, XPI 8.94 will be placed on Sustaining Support.

Oracle withdrew Web Services Gateway from JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools in September 2008. We will continue to support this product with Premier Support through October 1, 2010. After October 1, 2010, Web Services Gateway will be placed on Sustaining Support.

Why this change of strategy? Oracle's enterprise applications strategy is largely based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) design principles, with a strong emphasis on Web services capabilities. In alignment with this strategy, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne introduced Business Services, a product which enables you to fully capitalize on the benefits of SOA by providing native capabilities to produce and consume Web services. Business Services brings much superior integration capabilities and dramatically reduces the total cost of ownership for integrating JD Edward EnterpriseOne with external applications.

You can continue to expect more product innovations in the area of integration and Web service enablement. In the future, we will be extending our Business Services offerings through a combination of tooling enhancements, an expanding catalog of supported Web services, and a growing list of prepackaged application integrations.
