The Oracle Education Foundation, in cooperation with the Information and Communications Technology Center and the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Education, Ministry of Education, have agreed to expand the Oracle Education Foundation’s Think.com online learning community into the southern part of Thailand.
“The Oracle Education Foundation and the Ministry of Education have committed to reach out to students and teachers across the country by introducing Think.com in four major cities -- Phuket, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, and Rayong,” said Natasak Rodjanapiches, Regional Managing Director, ASEAN, and Managing Director, Oracle Thailand. “As one of the first countries in Southeast Asia to use Think.com, we are excited that we have achieved such rapid growth in Thailand. Now 457 schools and 26,594 students are members of the online community, sharing information and building knowledge with peers throughout the world.”
This year, the Oracle Education Foundation received the support of the Ministry of Education’s Information and Communications Technology Center and the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Education to roll out Think Camp across every region of Thailand. Think Camps offer hands-on trainings and workshops that provide an opportunity for students and teachers to share best practices in using Think.com.
At the Think Camp opening ceremony in Phuket, Dr. Panupong Wanchantuk, Director, Phuket ICT Skill Development and Learning Center, said, “Think.com helps students and teachers communicate and share knowledge, while developing technology skills. It will help the students meet their academic and career goals in the future and encourages the development of skills need in today’s workplace.”
“Today, many Thai teachers are learning more about the use of Think.com. The challenge has been applying it in their classrooms and their teaching methods,” said Ajarn Wichai Srisud, Teacher of Vocational and Technology, Bangkok Christian College. “Think Camp has helped address this problem. It has equipped Thai teachers with knowledge, skills, and innovative tools to help them put their learnings into practice.”
Think.com is part of Oracle’s and the Oracle Education Foundation’s global commitment to education and 21st century skills development. By investing in the education of today's students and partnering with the Ministry of Education in Thailand, Oracle is helping students obtain the vital skills needed for success in today’s global economy.
In the Asia Pacific region, Think.com is being used by more than 192,600 students and teachers in 3,904 institutions across Australia, China, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
