May 2008

Oracle and Clare Dolan, Vice President, Oracle Corporate Citizenship, have won the prestigious Outstanding Contribution Award and Medal of Contribution from the Chinese Ministry of Education. Oracle and Clare were recognized for their long-term contribution to the development of China’s education system.

“Oracle’s education programs are well-aligned with China’s strategy of invigorating the nation through the advancement of science, technology, and education.” said Yan Xuan, Vice President, Government and Business Development, Oracle Greater China. “Oracle has leveraged our technology to help prepare China’s next generation of leaders and we remain committed to helping grow China’s economy.”

When accepting the Medal of Contribution, Clare said, “I’m honored to receive this award from the Ministry of Education and very proud of the achievements of our Oracle China team. Given China’s rapid adoption of technology, there is a shortage of skilled IT workers in China today. Oracle’s education initiatives equip China’s university graduates with the technical and business skills needed to meet this demand. Our continued support of the country’s education system will help cultivate a 21st century workforce to support China’s growing economy.”

Oracle has a strong, long-term commitment to education and IT skills development in China. This commitment includes partnerships to provide Chinese students access to Oracle’s innovative education programs, technology and professional training programs, in-kind grants, and monetary support for less privileged students. Key events and milestones that showcase Oracle’s efforts include:
