Central China’s Wuhan University Launches Oracle Academy’s Training Program

Wuhan University, a prestigious, comprehensive university located in central China, has launched the Oracle Academy’s Advanced Computer Science program to help students gain vital business and technology skills needed for 21st century careers.

The integration of the Oracle Academy into the Wuhan University curriculum will play a significant role in driving the development of local talent in Hubei Province and to the creation of a skilled global workforce.

Additionally, Oracle will start an Oracle Club at Wuhan University to help students develop their independent study and innovation capabilities while offering them internship and employment opportunities.

“The launch of the Oracle Academy program in Wuhan University will contribute to the development of talented IT professionals in Hubei Province. The Oracle Academy program provides teachers and students with hands-on experience with Oracle’s state-of-the-art technology and gives students a head-start when they enter the workforce,” said Yan Xuan, Vice President, Government Affairs and Business Development, Oracle Greater China. “Our comprehensive education initiatives, which benefit students from the primary though university levels, are well-aligned with China’s goal to ‘invigorate the nation through the advancement of science, technology and education.’”

The Oracle Academy/Wuhan University builds on the company’s ongoing support of vocational and educational institutions in province and aids the Ministry of Commerce’s “1000-100-10 Project” to groom China’s future software and IT talent. Since 2002, Oracle and the Oracle Education Foundation have helped by:

  • Providing training for teachers at Wuhan Vocational College of Software and Engineering.
  • Introducing Think.com’s online collaborative learning community to elementary schools across the Province. To date, 23 schools, 93 teachers, and 716 students are members of the online learning community.

The launch event was attended by Yan Xuan; Zhou Huaibei, President, Software College, Wuhan University; Kippy Ye, Vice-Chairman, American Chamber of Commerce (ACC); and 30 ACC members.

The Oracle Academy and the Oracle Education Foundation’s initiatives reach more than 1 million students worldwide. The Oracle Academy supports 655,000+ students in 86 countries. By partnering with schools, districts, and ministries that believe in early career preparation, the Oracle Academy helps students develop the technology and business skills required for 21st century careers. Participating institutions may integrate Oracle’s cutting-edge software and curriculum into their courses and avail their faculty to first-class professional development opportunities.
