During Oracle Global Volunteer Days (GVD) 2007, more than 30 volunteers from the Oracle Guangzhou Office, along with their families and friends, took more than 20 students from Guangzhou Disabled Person's School to the Guangdong Museum of Art on a Saturday.
This is the third year that Oracle volunteers have participated in the school's in-house activities as part of Oracle GVD. In addition to the fun trip to the museum this year, Oracle volunteers shared lunch, talked, and sang songs with the students and teachers throughout the day.
"We made a positive difference,” said Ellie Ma, one of the Oracle GVD Project Leaders. "The teachers appreciated it very much that we not only spent time talking with the children, but also helped them visit the art museum so they could learn more about the beauty in the world.”
Oracle GVD was created to promote volunteerism among Oracle employees, make a lasting impact on our communities, and celebrate year-round service to organizations throughout the world. Oracle GVD is an excellent example of our mission at work. The 2007 event included more than 4,400 volunteers from 37 countries, supporting more than 158 projects.
