Oracle Education Foundation Launches Think.com for Malaysian Public Schools

January 2008

The Oracle Education Foundation, Oracle Malaysia, and the Ministry of Education Malaysia recently announced the launch of Think.com to help promote technology skills to students across the country.

The Malaysia Think.com pilot will include 822 schools and 400 teachers. The Oracle Education Foundation plans to roll out Think.com to another 4,000 Malaysian public schools in 2008. Malaysian students will be able to build knowledge, collaborate on projects, and share educational content with the 276,000 students and teachers from 73 countries who are already members of Think.com's protected online learning community.

“Think.com provides students and teachers with access to the latest technology and the collaborative learning skills needed in today's global workforce,” said K Raman, Managing Director, Oracle Malaysia. “The highly interactive, educational environment encourages students to use technology to share ideas and information in ways that help prepare them for future success.”

Raman continued, “Technology skills are an important part of a 21st century education that will prepare tomorrow's citizens to become part of the global society. With the assistance of the Ministry of Education, we are proud to introduce Think.com to Malaysia as a component of our global commitment to education.”

Think.com is sponsored by the Oracle Education Foundation. It provides schools with a protected, interactive online learning community where students and teachers can share educational content, collaborate on projects, and build knowledge. As members of the Think.com community, students and teachers have access to protected email accounts, personal Web pages where they can publish text and upload images, and an interactive working environment where they can engage in learning projects with other members globally. Think.com is available in 11 languages, including Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Turkish. Oracle provides specific training so that the school community can take advantage of all of Think.com's functionality.

“Think.com is a truly unique, global education program, designed to connect students and technology in ways that positively impact their lives and the communities in which they live," said Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Education, Malaysia. "Malaysian students will now be able to join the thousands of students worldwide that have benefited from the Oracle Education Foundation's Think.com technology program ― building vital technology and collaboration skills.”

Think.com is part of Oracle's and the Oracle Education Foundation's global commitment to education and 21st century skills development. By investing in the education of today's students and partnering with the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, Oracle is helping students obtain the vital skills needed for success in today's global economy. In the Asia Pacific region, Think.com is being used by more than 180,000 students and teachers in 3,551 institutions across Australia, China, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
