The Oracle Education Foundation (OEF), a philanthropic nonprofit organization funded by Oracle, recently announced that Adobe Systems Incorporated will donate creative software to support OEF's ThinkQuest program. In addition, DHL Express has pledged to donate more than $25,000 worth of shipping services to get the software to the student participants.
These gifts will aid OEF in its mission to help students worldwide develop collaboration and technology skills.
"The power of this partnership between the Oracle Education Foundation, DHL, and Adobe is special because together we are able to do so much more than any of us could have accomplished on our own," said Colleen Cassity, Executive Director, OEF.
The Adobe gift will include more than 5,100 copies and licenses for the company's industry-leading software for Web development and design, including Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements, Macromedia Dreamweaver from Adobe, and Macromedia Flash Basic from Adobe.
"By teaming up with Adobe, we can provide Web development software to students who have not previously had access to these tools. This will help to level the playing field for ThinkQuest competition participants," said Clare Dolan, Vice President, Oracle Education Initiatives. "Equally important, Adobe's generous gift will help us to expand the ThinkQuest program. The availability of Adobe software will attract new students who might have shied away from ThinkQuest out of concern that they couldn't be competitive. That's a thrilling prospect, because now these students will have the opportunity to gain experience with Adobe tools that have tremendous real-world relevance."
