Participation in Oracle Global Volunteer Days Reaches New Heights

Oracle's seventh annual Oracle Global Volunteer Days (GVD), which runs from September 16 to September 30, boasts more than 3,500 volunteers from more than 32 countries, supporting more than 110 projects worldwide. GVD helps Oracle employees around the world engage in volunteer projects to benefit the communities where they live and work, is showing a significant increase in employee participation.

This year, employees are working on a variety of projects: providing companionship to disabled seniors; Teaching computer skills to underserved students; Building housing for Hurricane Katrina survivors; Spending time with disadvantaged youth; Clearing debris from coastlines to protect marine wildlife; Preserving local parks and historical monuments; Serving and distributing food to low-income families.

By participating in a volunteer service project during GVD, Oracle employees around the world benefit through team-building exercises and leadership-development opportunities while making a difference in their local communities.

Oracle is committed to using our technology and resources to advance education in innovative ways, promote diversity, enrich the life of communities, and protect the environment. Oracle GVD, which began in 2000 as a one-day event and has grown into a multi-week event, is an example of this commitment. Oracle Volunteers created GVD to promote volunteerism among Oracle employees, make a lasting impact on our communities, and celebrate year-round service to organizations throughout the world.

Oracle Volunteers creates opportunities for Oracle employees and their families to actively address social needs and make a measurable, positive impact in the community. Oracle relies on our employees' interest in community involvement to act as the driving force behind our corporate volunteer projects.
