With the help of Oracle and the Ellisons, more local animals will soon end up in loving homes.
Oracle Corporation and Larry and Melanie Ellison have committed money, software, and volunteer time to help the Peninsula Humane Society in its mission—connecting abandoned pets with adoptive families.
Oracle technology and talent is working in partnership with the Peninsula Humane Society to put in place a Web site and database to help drive more pet adoptions. The joint goal is making the process attractive, simple, and fast for the prospective adopter and produce happy, loving homes for as many animals as possible.
Oracle is donating consulting hours, support for Web site development, software, and hosting services to the project.
Due to a deep concern for the welfare of animals, Larry and Melanie Ellison made a cash pledge to help build the PHS’s Center for Compassion. The PHS has raised roughly half the required money for the Center, a state-of-the-art facility committed to adoption, rehabilitation of native wildlife, and family education.
PHS/SPCA is a private non-profit organization guided by the humane ethic to build healthy relationships between people and animals. The organization helps thousands of animals each year, providing a warm bed, nutritious food, veterinary care, and a gentle touch for the lost, stray, unwanted, and injured domestic and wild animals in our community. |
