Oracle Wins Young Enterprise Gold Award 2006—Applauded for Support of UK Education Program

Oracle has received the Young Enterprise 2006 Gold Award for its outstanding support of the successful UK charitable business education organization. Oracle was acknowledged for its steady commitment to work with Young Enterprise to redevelop the organization's websites and IT infrastructure, donating the Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware and a team of its consultants to create a new platform. The project is being undertaken in conjunction with Dell Computers, who is providing the hardware.

The Gold Award is presented to organizations whose support, either financial or in-kind, has enabled Young Enterprise to achieve a step-change in the development of its business. "Over the past year Oracle has undertaken a complete rebuild of Young Enterprise's IT systems, and a new, fully integrated web site will be unveiled in the autumn," said Young Enterprise Chairman, Michael Geoghegan. "I am delighted that we are able to recognize Oracle's outstanding commitment, professionalism and generosity through presenting them with this award."

At the annual celebration dinner recently held in London, Geoghegan presented the prestigious award to Ian Smith, Regional Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Oracle UK Region.

"It is a special honor to be given the award by one of the most well-established organizations encouraging business to work closely with young people," said Smith. "At Oracle we believe business has an integral role to play in helping young people to gain the experience and competencies that will help them to be competitive in the global economy and perhaps even become the next generation of British entrepreneurs."

Young Enterprise is a UK charity that runs a range of business and enterprise education programs for more than 280,000 young people each year through the support of 3000+ businesses and 11,500+ volunteers. Young Enterprise provides a variety of business educational programs for children of all ages.

Oracle is committed to using our technology and resources to advance education in innovative ways, promote diversity, enrich the life of communities, and protect the environment. We are proud that the same innovative spirit behind Oracle's technological success also drives the creation of innovative global corporate citizenship initiatives that benefit our communities. Supporting groups such as Young Enterprise in the U.K. is an example of our commitment to education.
