The Bay Area

Our Neighborhood

We're not joking when we say the Bay Area is a reason—on its own—to work at Oracle Headquarters. Whether you choose to live North or South of Oracle, in the ever-popular city of San Francisco or in any of the surrounding cities, you'll be amazed at the entertainment you'll find just minutes from your own home. First, start your evening with a meal downtown: choose from British steaks, California cuisine, Cuban and South American chicken, Caribbean curries, Chinese tangerine beef, French fresh baked breads and pastries, Indian lamb or vegetarian dishes, Italian pasta (or pizza, of course!), Japanese sushi, Mexican fajitas, Middle Eastern falafel, Thai seafood, Vietnamese soup, and much, much more.

Next, throw on shorts and a T-shirt (Oracle T-shirt, of course), perhaps grab a light sweater, and join friends to go club-hopping in San Francisco or San Jose, book browsing in Palo Alto, surfing the ocean waves in Santa Cruz, or hiking through the East Bay and Peninsula Trails.

And, don't forget to think about what you'll be doing during your nearly three weeks of vacation! Not to mention holidays like July 4th. Even on a typical weekend, you may find yourself skiing with coworkers in Yosemite or Tahoe, wine tasting in Napa, driving South along Highway 1 to Monterey and Carmel—and camping out at Big Sur (now, there's a good use for all those T-shirts!)

Just 15 minutes from Oracle, you'll go hiking and biking along miles of trails at the Baylands. When visitors come to town, you'll want to take them on the curvy, scenic drive across Highway 84, through redwood forests, to the nearby San Gregorio State Beach. Or you may want to throw a tent in the car and camp out near Ano Nuevo State Preserve, the country's only mainland breeding colony of elephant seals, located between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz on Highway 1. On your way home, stop by at Shoreline Park, a 544-acre park in Mountain View, where you can sail on the 50-acre lake or catch some golf on the course. Watch out for the kayaks, pedalboats, and sailboats—and don't get hit by a rollerblader while you're bird watching! In the evening, if you still have energy, you may want to choose among the many dramas, comedies, or musicals offered throughout the Bay Area.

Or you may just want to wander through Stanford Shopping Center, one of the top shopping centers in the country. Find your favorite clothing and home appliances at Macy's, Neiman-Marcus, Nordstrom, Polo-Ralph Lauren, Talbots, Eddie Bauer, Ann Taylor, Armani A/X, or Williams Sonoma.
