Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Inter-Tel, Incorporated, a leading provider of business communications systems and related call processing, voice processing and call accounting software, has implemented Oracle( iStore, a component of the Oracle E-Business Suite, within the established time and budget. As a result, Inter-Tel has increased productivity by 50 percent while reducing error rates in the company's sales logistics and support department by 70 percent.
Live since August 2001, Inter-Tel is using Oracle iStore to provide a Web-enabled sales channel tool for its more than 500 partners, allowing them to place self-service orders. By using the Oracle solution, Inter-Tel expects to increase client satisfaction and retention, enabling the company to improve margins and continue growing the business.
"The response from partners using the Oracle system has been extremely positive and this project represents the completion of the first phase of our supply chain management strategy," said Norman Stout, executive vice president for Inter-Tel. "Over 50 percent of our channel partners have adapted to our Web ordering system within less than 60 days, and we expect to reach 90 percent by early 2002."
Inter-Tel's channel partner Web site, now powered by Oracle iStore, provides Inter-Tel dealers with an online catalog containing 5,000+ SKUs. The change engages accurate discount structures and real-time order placement, while also displaying full order history, shipment status-including click-through to shipping vendors, full invoice and payment application review. Since the deployment of phase one in August 2001, Inter-Tel has seen a 60 percent increase in Web ordering, almost mirroring a 70 percent decrease in error rates. As a result, Inter-Tel has improved productivity, cut costs and increased efficiencies.
Inter-Tel selected Oracle based on its industry-leading position and the integration offered between the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) applications in the Oracle E-Business Suite. Additionally, because Inter-Tel channel partners carry varying product lines with more than 40 different pricing/discount plans, Inter-Tel needed a solution that would allow for secure and accurate price presentation, while providing automation to manual sales logistics and support processes.
