Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Cerbios-Pharma SA, an industry leader in research, development and manufacturing of high quality active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry, has selected the Oracle(R) E-Business Suite to automate its processes and help reduce its business costs.
In order to streamline workflow throughout the organization, Cerbios will implement several modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite including Oracle Process Manufacturing, Oracle Financials, Oracle Purchasing, Oracle Order Management, Oracle Projects and Oracle Human Resources. Because Cerbios-Pharma SA products are marketed globally, it was important that business processes cross both front and back office operations, throughout all geographies.
Cerbios made the decision to deploy the Oracle E-Business Suite based on its superior open architecture, applications flexibility and tracking capabilities. Through Oracle, Cerbios expects to achieve a cohesive, integrated business infrastructure capable of supporting its growing operations by immediate access to high-quality business information, a process that is crucial in the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, the Oracle E-Business Suite offers the tracking capabilities to allow compliance with 21 CFR, a validation rule on electronic records and signatures established by the FDA. For Cerbios, compliance with this rule is business critical, because 90 percent of their products are sold to the US.
"We are happy to align ourselves with Oracle. They offer the most complete e-business solution and can demonstrate a track record of successful, fast implementations," said Christian Gilgen, chief executive officer for Cerbios-Pharma SA. "We recognize the business benefits from a validated ERP environment on a proven architecture and by choosing Oracle, we expect to be able to support our aggressive growth plans of more than 50 percent per year."
Cerbios launched phase one of the Oracle E-Business Suite with the implementation of Oracle Financials and Oracle Order Management in November 2001. Both applications are planned to go live later this year, and are expected to be followed by the launch of Oracle Manufacturing at the end of the year.
Oracle E-Business Suite
To date, more than 1,500 companies are live on the Oracle E-Business Suite, the industry's first integrated suite of Internet business applications that automates critical business processes across both front and back office operations. The Oracle E-Business Suite can streamline every area of a business -- marketing, sales, service, contracts, order management, product design, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, financials, projects, human resources and professional services automation.
Since its initial introduction, Oracle has delivered several releases of Oracle E-Business Suite enhancements, resulting in a mature, function-rich set of applications. Oracle E-Business Suite also offers customers unprecedented choice and flexibility in implementing business applications; its open architecture and single data model allow applications to be deployed as individual modules, business flows, or as an entire integrated suite. The Oracle E-Business Suite is offered as traditional software on CD ROMs or as an outsourced service.
