VIRGIN ATLANTIC CHOOSES ORACLE(r) E-BUSINESS SUITE
Oracle Financials, Oracle Human Resources And Oracle Payroll Will Be Rolled Out Across Virgin Atlantic's UK And International Offices
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.   04-NOV-2002 06:00 AM    Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that UK-based airline Virgin Atlantic has chosen to implement the Oracle9(r) Financials, Oracle Human Resources (HR), Oracle Payroll and Oracle iLearning modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite. The applications will be rolled out across Virgin Atlantic's UK operations and international offices comprising the United States, The Caribbean, Africa, India and The Far East.

Virgin Atlantic Airways was founded by Sir Richard Branson in 1984, and has become Britain's second largest longhaul airline serving 19 destinations as far apart as Las Vegas and Shanghai. Virgin employs just under 7,000 people worldwide and carries over 4 million passengers each year.

Virgin Atlantic chose Oracle because of the foreseen cost and service benefits of having a single integrated e-business system. Virgin personnel will have self-service access to business and personal information online, including training, finance, payroll and personal details.

"We were impressed by Oracle's industry knowledge and the closeness of the fit of its functionality to our business requirements. We are convinced that the benefits of this project will enable good returns for Virgin Atlantic both in terms of cost savings and in business process improvements that will impact both short term results and help us build for future growth," said Simon Fox, Chief Information Officer for Virgin Atlantic.

Chris Baker, vice president of Applications and Technology for Oracle UK, Ireland and South Africa, said "Oracle has a strong focus on the airline industry. British Airports Authority and Emirates Airlines already run the Oracle E-Business Suite, and these references along with our industry knowledge helped us demonstrate to Virgin how the Oracle E-Business Suite can deliver the requirements of an airline business. For businesses like Virgin in a highly competitive market it is important to have accurate, up-to-the-minute business information in order to make effective and timely business decisions." The rollout began in September 2002 and is expected to start going live in Spring 2003.
