Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) today reported increased total revenues for
the second quarter of fiscal 2005 for the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
region with 21% growth, compared to the second quarter last year. Oracle saw solid
demand for both its technology and applications products across key industries,
particularly public sector, healthcare, financial services and telecommunications.
Notable during the quarter was a 67% increase in applications new software license
revenues as customers throughout the region selected Oracle applications over
those of other vendors.
"In applications we are seeing strategic decisions to standardise on Oracle
on an organisation-wide basis and this has helped produce a substantial increase
in those revenues," said Sergio Giacoletto, Executive Vice President, Oracle
Europe, Middle East and Africa. "Additionally, it is clear that consolidation
and centralisation of systems is emerging as the dominant trend, as customers
seek to have better information. Cost savings remain a key priority for customers
and this is driving the uptake of Grid technologies."
