Oracle and HP Set Performance World Record on SAP(r) SD Standard Application Benchmark
Oracle(r) Database 10g and HP Integrity Servers Deliver Enterprise-level Performance and Scalability
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.,   20-OCT-2004 02:48 PM    Oracle today announced a world record result for the SAP(r) Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark on HP Integrity servers, demonstrating the companies' ability to deliver high-performance and high-availability for enterprise transaction processing.

This new leading result of 95,400 SAP SD Benchmark users, with an average dialog response time of 1.74 seconds, was achieved using the SAP R/3(r) Enterprise Release 4.7C solution and Oracle(r) Database 10g running the SAP SD workload on an HP Integrity Superdome Enterprise Server with 64 Intel Itanium 2 1.6 GHz processors with HP-UX 11i v21. Oracle Database 10g delivered nearly twice as much performance as the previous best result from IBM DB22 and over three and a half times more performance than the best result from Microsoft SQL Server3.

"Together Oracle and HP deliver outstanding results for customers with the highest performing systems," said Richard Sarwal, vice president of Server Performance, Oracle Corp. "This benchmark has proved again that Oracle Database 10g provides customers with an excellent platform for deploying their largest database workloads."

Oracle and HP now hold world records for the three-tier SAP SD Standard Application benchmark, the three-tier Assemble to Order (ATO) Standard Application Benchmark4 and the SAP SD Parallel Standard Application Benchmark5. Additionally, Oracle holds the world records for the two-tier ATO Standard Application Benchmark6. Oracle is the number one preferred database for deployments of SAP solutions7, and continues to innovate and maintain its leadership. Today's announcement is an example of the close engineering partnership between Oracle, HP and SAP that provides customers with a fast, reliable and scalable technology infrastructure.

"HP's partnership with Oracle is paramount in helping our customers achieve exceptional value and performance when deploying mission-critical databases and applications," said Don Jenkins, vice president of marketing, Business Critical Systems, HP. "We're confident that as IT managers look to find the most competitive solutions for their enterprise needs, the combination of Oracle on HP Integrity servers is a great choice for performance and availability."
