To better manage and streamline business
processes and communications with its sales force, Tupperware, a leading
manufacturer of food storage, preparation and serving products, successfully
implemented Oracle Collaboration Suite and Oracle Portal.
The Florida-based company deployed Oracle Collaboration Suite products including
Oracle Email, Oracle Calendar and Oracle Files, and the Oracle Portal to enhance
functionality of Tupperware's information portal called MyTupperware.com.
MyTupperware.com is used by Tupperware's U.S. sales force for sales and
marketing information as well as to access order entry information in one
central repository. The Oracle implementation has enabled Tupperware to produce
better-managed and streamlined communications with its sales force and internal
lines of business. Both are now able to independently access and manage
specific information on the website and therefore reduce their dependence on
their information technology (IT) department.
"We believe that enabling rich collaboration and communication across all
levels of our sales force is critical to Tupperware's continued leadership,"
said Donna Tesmer, director of IT, Tupperware. "The Oracle products have
enabled us to reduce overall costs with the ability to push portal updates to
employees, resulting in improved response rates and reduced IT support for
maintenance."
"We were also able to reduce integration and hardware costs by leveraging Oracle
Real Application Clusters and Linux Grid infrastructure," said Phil Smart,
senior manager of applications development, Tupperware.
In addition, Tupperware reduced storage costs with the ability to store single
copies of relevant files in the MyTupperware environment, it reduced Help-Desk
inquiries, and Oracle Collaboration Suite Email helped enable the company to
increase brand awareness by providing all consultants with the "@tupperware.com"
email address.
The company was faced with several challenges when it licensed Oracle
Collaboration Suite and Oracle Portal last year. Tupperware needed a
collaboration solution that was scalable enough to support adding about 5,000
users a month, and send emails to distribution lists of up to 10,000 recipients
at a time. The company required a system that also provided role-based access
to proprietary documents, so individuals and groups could access the information
securely. Finally, the company needed a seamless interface to its existing
business applications.
"Organizations like Tupperware need a unified workplace - a single,
cohesive, collaborative environment that provides controlled access to
information, streamlines business processes and is scalable enough to address
the needs of the rapidly-growing organization," said Rob Koplowitz, senior
director, Oracle Collaboration Suite. "The combined power of Oracle
Collaboration Suite and Oracle Portal addresses Tupperware's needs by
consolidating the typical information used by Tupperware employees into a single,
massively scalable repository - all accessed via rich productivity tools on the
front-end."
