Oracle and salesforce.com today announced that salesforce.com has selected Oracle(r) Database 10g and
Oracle Grid Computing as key technology enablers for its service and internal operations.
Salesforce.com plans to deploy Oracle's robust, powerful and secure platform as a critical part of
the backbone supporting its on-demand CRM applications and to help drive salesforce.com's
success in delivering reliable, scalable application services around the clock. All of
salesforce.com's 15,500 customers and 267,000 subscribers worldwide already benefit from
Oracle's unparalleled commitment to delivering the industry's most rock-solid, high-performance
database products. In addition, salesforce.com has internally deployed Oracle Fusion Middleware
to streamline and optimize its business and IT operations.
"One of the key reasons we chose Oracle and salesforce.com is because each company had the
vision to ensure their solutions could easily work together with a wide variety of other platforms,"
said David Watson, vice president and CTO, Kaiser Permanente. "Together, Oracle and
salesforce.com represent a combination that can't be beat. For us, it's the best of both the online
and on premise worlds."
Enterprises such as Kaiser Permanente, Phoenix Technologies and Stratus Technologies rely on
salesforce.com and Oracle to power their businesses with a complete suite of enterprise
applications. As a provider of business-critical, on-demand CRM solutions, salesforce.com has
chosen Oracle's open, secure, reliable and manageable technology infrastructure to successfully
provide 24x7 on-demand services to its customers.
"While many companies talk about delivering an open, scalable software infrastructure for
independent software vendors to use, Oracle has been delivering world class database technology
and working with partners for nearly three decades," said Marc Benioff, CEO of salesforce.com.
"Salesforce.com customers have confidence in our ability to deliver critical business applications,
such as our new Summer '05 release, because of our decision to standardize on Oracle. We are
proud to run our systems, and our company on the Oracle platform."
"Oracle is committed to providing our partners with world-class technology and services so they
can serve our joint customers," said Charles Phillips, president, Oracle. "We look forward to a
continued successful technology relationship with saleforce.com."
