Greatbatch, Inc. Utilizes Oracle® Applications to Better Manage Business Processes and Adapt to Change
Oracle E-Business Suite Provides Predictable Implementation
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.   01-NOV-2005 11:07 AM    Greatbatch, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of critical components for implantable medical devices, has implemented Oracle(r) applications to better manage the business processes that help the company maintain high standards for on-time delivery and product quality, Oracle today announced.

Serving the cardiac rhythm management industry, Greatbatch decided to standardize its operations on the Oracle E-Business Suite to give it the flexibility to adapt to changing business environments and provide higher levels of service and satisfaction. Greatbatch sought a modular and scalable enterprise business platform that would support growth both organically and by acquisition. After evaluating both Oracle and SAP, the company determined that Oracle applications provided Greatbatch with the functionality, manufacturing expertise and clear roadmap for implementation it needed.

"The most important factor in the enterprise software selection process was a company that understood our industry business needs with a modern solution that had a predictable implementation path," said Tae Park, Senior Director of Information Technology, Greatbatch. "The Oracle rollout across our seven facilities was successfully accomplished two full months ahead of our initial schedule."

Before migrating to Oracle, Greatbatch ran disparate systems that lacked scalability. The legacy systems' limitations affected the company's ability to manage growth and adapt to change. With each new acquisition came a new information technology (IT) system that continued to operate on its own. Over the years, the disparate systems led to information silos and inefficient business processes that could not support Greatbatch's business requirements.

Greatbatch's senior management and executive board also wanted the new system to help achieve Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Improved visibility across the company, a predictable implementation, functionality that delivers business insight and technology that can adapt to industry processes, led Greatbatch to select and successfully implement the Oracle E-Business Suite. The new Oracle system is viewed as a strategic enabler, part of the business infrastructure designed to support growth and compliance.

Company executives plan to enhance this foundation by implementing Oracle Daily Business Intelligence in 2006, to help achieve even deeper business insight.
