Leading Analyst Firm Positions Oracle(R) Application Server 10g In Leaders Quadrant for Enterprise Application Servers
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.,   23-AUG-2006 05:15 AM    Oracle today announced that Oracle(r) Application Server 10g, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, has been positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Servers, 2Q06.(1) Gartner defines vendor leaders in this category as performing well today, having a clear vision of market direction and actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

As part of its Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Application Servers 2Q06 report, Gartner notes that the application server market is evolving to address changes in business application architectures. The report cites Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), open source software, event-driven architecture (EDA) and high-end extreme transaction processing as key market drivers.

"We believe Oracle's position in the leaders quadrant highlights the benefits customers gain with Oracle Application Server 10g and validates our Oracle Fusion Middleware strategy," said Steven G. Harris, vice president, Java Platform Group at Oracle. "For enterprises needing the agility and flexibility of SOA and the real-time insight of events, Oracle Application Server 10g is the ideal software to help organizations quickly and efficiently react to today's changing market demands."

Oracle Application Server 10g sits at the core of Oracle Fusion Middleware and delivers comprehensive software for developing, integrating, and deploying enterprise applications, portals and Web services. Based on a powerful and scalable J2EE server, Oracle Application Server 10g includes best-in-class business integration, business intelligence and portal capabilities. It is the only platform designed for grid computing and to have full lifecycle support for SOA. It features everything necessary to successfully develop and deploy enterprise Java applications, a certified J2EE 1.4 compatible container, a rich set of tools and runtimes, Oracle JDeveloper, Oracle Application Developer Framework (ADF) and Oracle TopLink(r) persistence architecture.
