Oracle Sets World Record in Two-Tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark for Four Processor Systems using HP Integrity Server
Oracle Wins in Head-to-Head Comparison on Identical Hardware
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.,   20-DEC-2006 05:41 AM    Building on its commitment to providing superior performance and scalability, Oracle today announced a world record two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark result for four processor systems. Running HP-UX 11i and the mySAP(tm) ERP 2005 application on an HP Integrity rx6600 server with 4 Intel Itanium 2 1.6 GHz processors, 8 cores, 16 threads, Oracle® Database 10g achieved 2,150 SAP SD Benchmark users(1), delivering 39 percent higher throughput and 41 percent more users than Microsoft SQL Server 2005 running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition on identical hardware(2), as measured by fully processed order lines per hour and the number of SAP SD Benchmark users.

The two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark measures the system performance to process dialog steps and order line item postings per hour for SAP solution-based transactions. A transaction consists of a full business process that captures activities from the full order processing cycle from order creation to delivery to invoicing.

"The result of this SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark continues to distinguish Oracle for its ability to deliver exceptional performance for customers," said Richard Sarwal, vice president of Server Performance, Oracle. "Oracle remains the most popular relational database running on UNIX servers and this benchmark is a testament to our relentless pursuit, across all platforms, to provide customers the performance and scalability their business demands."

In addition to holding the best four processor performance result on an HP Integrity server for the two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark, Oracle holds a number of performance world record results on other SAP benchmarks including the two-tier SAP Assemble-to-Order (ATO) Standard Application Benchmark(3).
