Oracle, the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced the
recipients of its fifth Oracle® PartnerNetwork Innovation Award for Europe,
the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The Oracle PartnerNetwork Innovation Award
encourages and rewards innovation by Oracle PartnerNetwork members, where initiatives
using Oracle's products and technology are applied to create value for the customer
and generate new business potential.
UK-based partner Toumaz Technology Limited took first prize for its groundbreaking
Sensium solution, an innovative ultra-low power wireless platform that
allows healthcare providers to remotely monitor patient multiple vital signs
in real-time. This real-time information is transmitted through an Oracle Sensor
Edge Server for further processing and filtering and is seamlessly integrated
into an Oracle Healthcare Transactional Database where it is analysed and made
available to the appropriate specialists.
"We are delighted that our solution has been recognised as innovative
by Oracle. The Oracle PartnerNetwork Innovation Award is a valuable endorsement
and an asset in helping us to achieve further success in the market for the
Sensium," said Keith Errey, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Toumaz
Technology Limited. "In selecting Oracle, the wireless infrastructure for
intelligent, non-intrusive continuous monitoring delivers a new wave of personalised
care applications - with the potential to transform health and lifestyle management
for millions of people," added Toumaz Technology Co-Founder and Chairman,
Professor Chris Toumazou.
In second place, UK partner Can Factory was recognised for its Infrastructure
and Donation Application, a tool which has provided a platform for secure donations
to some of the UK's largest charity events including RedNose Day, Live8 and
Sport Relief. The Oracle-supported application ensures online donations are
securely transmitted to an Oracle database even in the event of a technical
difficulty. A specially designed queuing system ensures that transactions which
cannot be handled in real-time are queued and processed securely, without loss
of data.
Third prize was awarded to Italian partner Technology Reply for its "Project
Leonardo" initiative. The system is used by the Carabinieri Department
Heritage Supervision - a police unit charged with identifying and recovering
stolen works of art - and is based on Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Real Application
Cluster technology. Project Leonardo uses a multi-lingual interface and offers
advanced functions for investigative analysis. One of the new system's strengths
is its evolved search capacity of comparing images or portions of images based
on their graphical characteristics, as well as using "concepts" contained
in the context as search terms.
"The ability to innovate has always been integral to Oracle's success,
and our partners also recognize that innovation is one of the keys to maintaining
a leadership position," said Vasu Briquez, Chair of the Oracle Innovation
Board in EMEA, said. "The Oracle PartnerNetwork Innovation Award provides
us with an excellent opportunity to encourage and reward the outstanding initiatives
that are being developed in our partner community."
Stein Surlien, Vice President, Alliances & Channels, at Oracle EMEA said:
"We are delighted to reward our partners - Toumaz Technology Limited, Can
Factory and Technology Reply Srl - for their truly innovative solutions. We
are committed, though the Oracle PartnerNetwork, to providing our partners with
the support, services and expertise that help them create valuable solutions
and enable their customers to achieve their business goals. Winning an Oracle
PartnerNetwork Innovation Award enhances a partner's visibility within the Oracle
partner community and the wider market. We are proud to be involved with these
partners and wish them the greatest success for the future."
