Signifying its ongoing commitment to protect, extend and evolve customer investments, Oracle(R) today announced Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9. This release is intended to further "Applications Unlimited," a program designed to help customers derive continuing success from their current applications by delivering ongoing product development. Oracle today also unveiled the first product of PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9, PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management (please see related release).
Leveraging Oracle(R) Fusion Middleware; New Business Process and Industry Enhancements
The new release of PeopleSoft Enterprise is scheduled to deliver best-in-class business functionality and a superior ownership experience. In addition, it will help customers leverage the benefits of Oracle Fusion Middleware. The integration of PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9 with Oracle Fusion Middleware is intended to enable customers to capitalize on key technologies such as Oracle XML Publisher, Oracle Business Activity Monitoring, Oracle Customer Data Hub, and will allow for the expanded use of web services and Oracle BPEL Process Manager. Oracle Fusion Middleware will give customers business process flexibility and access to critical business intelligence, while helping to lower the cost of implementations, upgrades and the maintenance of integration points.
In addition, this new PeopleSoft Enterprise release is slated to deliver enhancements that can help customers address business areas, such as:
* Corporate Governance, with new features to help companies facilitate compliance with legislation such as the Patriot Act, Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the International Financial Reporting Standards;
* Customer Relationship Management, with new features to improve productivity for customer service agents;
* Enterprise Performance Management, with new enhancements that strengthen enterprise-level planning and analysis;
* Talent Management, with tools that offer a single, enterprise-wide system and consistent, integrated process;
* Supplier Relationship Management, by linking key performance indicators and critical business activities to deliver information driven business insight for managers and buyers;
* Asset Lifecycle Management, with comprehensive lifecycle support across various asset types.
Additionally, Oracle plans to include expanded capabilities for key industries such as public sector, healthcare staffing, financial services, communications and higher education in PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9.
Other improvements in PeopleSoft Enterprise will be focused on Oracle's commitment to provide a Superior Ownership Experience for customers. With this latest release, Oracle has made hundreds of modifications that simplify and improve the user experience, such as an improved customer service agent, an expanded financial planning framework and enhanced workforce optimization tools. Utilizing existing feedback mechanisms, such as product and industry user groups, Oracle gathers customer requirements to develop features that help ease implementation, use and support of applications.
New PeopleSoft General Manager to Lead PeopleSoft Enterprise Organization
As part of its "Application Unlimited" program, Oracle has appointed a general manager to run the PeopleSoft Enterprise organization. The general manager model was conceived to benefit customers by centralizing leadership, development and delivery efforts around each product line. Doris Wong, who has more than 22 years of experience developing enterprise applications, including 11 years at PeopleSoft, will serve as general manager for the PeopleSoft Enterprise product line. Her focus will be on the strategic direction and development of current and future PeopleSoft solutions.
"This release is the culmination of a year-long project to deliver on customer requested enhancements and integrate core components of the Oracle Fusion Middleware family with PeopleSoft applications," said Wong. "Forward-thinking architects and developers are addressing the complexity of their application and IT environments with SOA to create modular business services that can be easily integrated and reused, creating a truly flexible, adaptable IT infrastructure. PeopleSoft Enterprise Release 9 allows customers to continue down a path toward a SOA."
