Oracle® Database Sets New World Record for Two-Tier SAP® Sales and Distribution Standard Application Benchmark Running Linux on Fujitsu PrimeQuest 480
Oracle Tops Microsoft with 1,000 More SAP SD Benchmark Users
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.,   16-MAY-2006 01:00 PM    Today Oracle announced a new world record result on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark for the fastest performance on Linux. Running Linux on a Fujitsu PrimeQuest 480 with 32 Intel Itanium 2 1.6 GHz processors, Oracle® Database achieved 5,000 SAP SD Benchmark users(1), delivering 25 percent more performance than Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on identical hardware, as measured by the number of benchmark users(2). This result underlines Oracle's superior scalability for processing mission-critical SAP SD Benchmark transactions, running on the mySAP(TM) ERP 2004 application.

The two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark measures the system performance to process dialog steps and order line item postings per hour for SAP solution-based transactions. A transaction consists of a full business process that captures activities from the full order processing cycle from order creation to delivery to invoicing.

"This record result on the SAP Sales and Distribution Benchmark demonstrates that Linux is enterprise ready and further establishes Oracle's ability to achieve top notch results for customers in today's demanding supply-chain environment," said Richard Sarwal, vice president of Server Performance, Oracle. "Oracle Database running on Linux is one of the most popular platforms and this benchmark result underscores the value we bring to our customers."

In addition to holding the best performance result on Linux for the two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark, Oracle holds a number of performance world record results on other SAP benchmarks running on Fujitsu and Fujitsu Siemens Computers hardware including: the two-tier SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) Release 3.5 Standard Application Benchmark(3), the two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark(4), and the two-tier SAP Assemble-to-Order (ATO) Standard Application Benchmark(5).
