Kroll Factual Data, Inc. Delivers Reliable and Scalable Mortgage Settlement Services with Oracle(r) Real Application Clusters
Migration to Oracle Database Clusters on Windows Platform Enables Kroll Factual Data to Meet Stringent Customer Service Level Agreements, Scale to Meet Growing Customer Demand
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.   21-NOV-2006 05:05 AM    Kroll Factual Data, Inc., a subsidiary of Kroll Inc. and a leading provider of business information services to the mortgage industry, today announced its migration to Oracle(r) Database 10g and Oracle Real Application Clusters to establish a highly available and scalable foundation for its Web-based information services.

The majority of Kroll Factual Data's information services are delivered to end users via the Web with approximately 70 percent of its transactions conducted using Web services. Kroll Factual Data leads the industry in providing a "4 hours or free" guarantee to all of its customers. Kroll Factual Data's service guarantee requires a fault-tolerant, scalable IT infrastructure for its database applications.

Kroll Factual Data deployed Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Real Application Clusters, and database option Oracle Spatial 10g on a three-node cluster of Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers with two Intel Xeon dual-core processors running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Oracle Real Application Clusters enables the company to manage multiple workloads in a cluster and incrementally add servers as required, allowing their applications to adapt easily to growing business demands without disruption.

The cluster also helps to ensure uptime for applications such as Kroll Factual Data's Flood Zone Determination offering for mortgage brokers, lenders, and investment companies. Using Oracle Spatial 10g, this application delivers geological maps of the U.S. to help companies determine whether or not a subject property is within a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Zone. To achieve a higher level of data protection in the event of a complete data center outage, the company takes the necessary steps to ensure business continuity by replicating data from its primary data center to its disaster recovery site.

Fully integrated with Oracle Database, Kroll Factual Data's middle-tier layer is comprised of Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0 and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2.0 Team System applications. To enable optimized data access to Oracle Database from a .NET environment Kroll Factual Data uses Oracle Data Provider for .NET. Oracle Data Provider for .NET also allows developers to take advantage of advanced Oracle Database functionality such as Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle XML DB, and advanced security features.

"We must have a highly available system," said Russ Donnan, Chief Information Officer, Kroll Factual Data, Inc. "We migrated to Oracle Real Application Clusters because it neatly fits our needs for both availability and scalability."
