Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) today announced key
customer wins signed during the first quarter of its fiscal year 2007 across Europe,
Middle East and Africa (EMEA). With an 83 per cent increase in as reported applications
revenues in the region over the same period last year, the EMEA applications business
continues to grow faster than its competitors. Customers are responding positively
to Oracle's strategy to give customers the choice of continuing to get value from
their existing deployments, and of evolving to new technologies when the time
is right for them.
"It's all about choice," said Oracle President Charles Phillips.
"Our customers can select flexible applications that adapt to their needs,
either on Oracle's Fusion Architecture or their existing infrastructures, and
decide their own upgrade schedule to suit their timeframe."
Oracle Applications Unlimited program gives customers the reassurance that
Oracle, Siebel, PeopleSoft, and JD Edwards applications will be supported with
dedicated, world-class development and support for years to come. Applications
Unlimited is driven by Oracle's commitment to protecting customers' investments.
Additionally, Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy covers the entire technology
environment, from database to middleware to applications, an industry first,
only from Oracle, and puts customers in control of their upgrade strategy.

During the quarter, customers in EMEA bought Oracle solutions for a broad spectrum
of projects including: a biometric-based system for digital storage of photos
and fingerprints; migration from a mainframe environment to Oracle Grid technology
for cost-efficiency; electronic stock market trading; centralisation and automation
of hospital data; and management of very large volumes of complex manufacturing
data.
Halcrow Group, which specialises in the provision of planning, design and management
services worldwide for infrastructure development in the water, transportation,
maritime and property sectors, has purchased Oracle E-Business Suite 11i HRMS
applications through Oracle OnDemand. "The Oracle solution with OnDemand
is the closest we could get to a true ASP model - rapid deployment, comprehensive,
global, out-of-the-box best practice, all orchestrated by a specialist implementation
partner," said Chris Farmer, CIO, Halcrow Group. "This solution will
improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of people management services
to our staff spread across 90 offices around the world, many of whom have no
local HR Support."
Scottish Water, a utility provider of water and waste water services, plans
to get efficiencies from pre-integrated applications and reduced middleware
complexity using Oracle technology and applications. "We are building significantly
on our existing relationship, and reinforcing our long term Oracle commitment,"
said Mark Adderley, Business Services, Scottish Water.
