It's official, again - Oracle® JDeveloper is the
best tool for productive, flexible Java application development. At JavaPolis
2006 in Antwerp, Belgium, LogicaCMG again provided the winning team, and again
the LogicaCMG entry was based upon Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle Application Development
Framework (ADF).
Billing itself as the "European Java Climax of the Year", JavaPolis
is now in its fifth year and has grown from its original roots as the Belgian
Java User Group's gathering into an international conference with delegates
from all over Europe. For the second year running, the organisers staged a Rapid
Application Development (RAD) Race. The rules are simple:
Seven teams from countries across Europe and North America entered this year's
RAD Race. The jury declared two of them to be the winners - the LogicaCMG team,
consisting of Robert Willems of Brilman and Gideon Liem, and a team from Getronics
PinkRoccade.
"A great contribution to our success came from the extensibility of Oracle
ADF, which has enabled LogicaCMG to develop its own 'kick-start' application,"
added Gideon Liem, Senior Oracle/Java Consultant, LogicaCMG. "We developed
this internal system to give us ready-built support in our day-to-day consulting
engagements for generic functions such as authentication and authorisation to
aid user administration. These extensions enabled Robert and me to focus quickly
on developing the business function required by the RAD Race without having
to worry about creating any 'plumbing'."
"Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle ADF prove themselves time and time again
as being an environment that really boosts productivity to the max," said
Robert Willems of Brilman, also a Senior Oracle/Java Consultant at LogicaCMG.
"Oracle ADF Business Components really made our persistence layer a breeze.
It meant we could just wizard our way through the business components and five
minutes later we could focus on the business functionality. Oracle ADF Faces
is a terrific view layer that lets you drag-n-drop anything you want to create
on screen. Our experience with Oracle ADF Faces is nothing but pleasure."
"That Oracle JDeveloper once again provides the basis for a winning entry
is a great proof of its longevity and quality as a development environment,"
said Tim Payne, vice president, Oracle Technology Marketing, EMEA. "It
says a great deal about the productivity and flexibility that Oracle JDeveloper
enables for organisations using IT to address real business problems. Our sincere
congratulations go to the winning team from LogicaCMG for their excellent efforts."
