Oracle today announced that Wal-Mart Stores, Nordstrom and The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. were honored as the inaugural winners of the Oracle(r) Retail Excellence Awards at the company's recently-held Retail Executive Forum at The Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Oracle Retail Excellence Awards were launched this year to recognize customers' outstanding achievements in maximizing business value through innovative best practices and efficient operations leveraging technology. Wal-Mart Stores won for 'Outstanding Program Implementation,' Nordstrom for 'Greatest Financial Impact' and The Children's Place for 'Innovator of the Year.'
"Innovative retailers are building insight-driven strategies to more effectively compete and are generating impressive results," said Duncan Angove, General Manager and Senior Vice President, Oracle Retail. "It is a privilege to recognize these great retailers and celebrate their achievements through the Retail Excellence Awards program."
The Retail Excellence Awards winners were selected by a committee comprised of retail experts and industry thought leaders. In addition to Oracle Retail's Duncan Angove, this prestigious group included AMR Research Vice President Rob Garf, Bain & Company Global Retail Practice Director Darrell Rigby, Harvard Business School's Walter Salmon, Loeb & Associates President Walter Loeb, IBM Partner Fred Balboni and Accenture Partner Andy Hogenson.
"The committee was extremely impressed with the results achieved by all of the nominees and selecting the Retail Excellence Awards winners was a challenge," said Walter Salmon, the Stanley Roth, Sr., Professor of Retailing, Emeritus, at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.
