Oracle today announced that Las Vegas Valley Water District, which provides water to more than one million
people in Southern Nevada, has selected Oracle(r) Utilities Customer Care and Billing and Oracle
Utilities Business Intelligence to help provide a reliable, scalable billing platform that will enable
the company to deliver superior customer service and improve water conservation.
In operation since 1954, Las Vegas Valley Water District's legacy billing system grew
too difficult and costly to upgrade and maintain over time. Coupled with the influx of new
residents and business to the Las Vegas community, the legacy system could not easily
accommodate changes in Las Vegas Valley Water District's business. The utility will build its
new billing system on Oracle Utilities applications to deliver the scalability and flexibility
required to assist Las Vegas Valley Water District in updating its billing service and enabling
improved customer self-service online. The new system also supports the utility's aggressive
water conservation efforts by streamlining rate-change management so that fines and increased
rates can be applied accurately to deter water waste.
"Enabling customer self-service and conserving water resources are key priorities in our
business," said Alisa Mann, customer services manager for Las Vegas Valley Water District.
"We selected this technology because it offered the flexibility, scalability and service our
company requires to effectively meet the demands of our customers while also deterring water
waste."
"We applaud Las Vegas Valley Water District's efforts to deliver solid customer service
while also promoting the conservation of natural resources," said Quentin Grady, senior vice
president and general manager, Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit. "We are committed to
working with Las Vegas Valley Water District to help the company realize new efficiencies and
cost savings through integrated systems and effectively manage valuable customer relationships."
