Higher Education Institutions of All Sizes Enable Increased Efficiency and Competitive Advantage With Oracle(r) Applications and Infrastructure Software
Institutions Benefit from Scalable Solutions that Meet Their Specialized Needs
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.   24-OCT-2007 05:00 AM    Oracle today announced that several leading U.S. colleges and universities recently purchased or implemented Oracle(r) Applications and infrastructure software to help standardize data campus-wide, increase operational efficiency, build stronger, more personalized constituent relationships and gain an advantage in today's fiercely competitive higher education environment.

Higher education institutions nationwide are faced with decreasing budgets and increased pressure to justify spending. By integrating data and streamlining business processes, institutions of all sizes can reduce costs and meet budget challenges while providing students, faculty, staff and alumni with enhanced service.

"Oracle is committed to providing higher education institutions of all sizes with affordable, reliable applications and technology," said Oracle Vice President, Higher Education, Steve Koporec. "Public or private, two-year or four-year, Oracle meets institutions' unique needs with scalable applications, an established implementation partner network, flexible hosting options, end user training support and a commitment to application enhancements that protects customers' investments."

Brigham Young University-Hawaii Rapidly Implements ERP Applications
Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii), an undergraduate institution with 2,400 students, recently implemented Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions to enhance service to students, streamline processes, improve interdepartmental communication and strengthen security across its IT system. The university completed the project (named IMUA, which means progress in Hawaiian) in just 24 months.

With PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, the University has enabled faculty to more effectively and efficiently serve students by providing tools that allow them to easily communicate with students and submit grades and curriculum online. Students benefit from self-service functionality that allows them to securely modify personal information, pay bills and access academic information online, from any location. With PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management, the university has gained insight into financial data and has automated procurement processes to help improve efficiency and accelerate decision-making processes.

"We selected Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise applications because of their highly advanced functionality, reliability and flexibility, and we are only beginning to realize the breadth of the functionality we've gained," said Jim Nilson, chief information officer, BYU-Hawaii. "Oracle has made a long-term commitment to our university, providing us with the highest quality solutions at affordable prices."

Based on the success the university has already realized, the IT team is now working to further integrate applications including PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management modules for time and labor and travel and expense, as well as PeopleSoft Enterprise Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to further improve campus efficiency and service to constituents.

Hobart and William Smith to Enhance the Entire Student Lifecycle
Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS), an undergraduate liberal arts institution of nearly 2,000 students in Geneva, N.Y., is in the early stages of implementing Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM, PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management, PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Oracle User Productivity Kit. In addition, the institution has decided to standardize its technology infrastructure on Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware.

These implementations will help the colleges streamline operational processes campus-wide and enhance the student experience by providing improved access and capabilities throughout the student lifecycle. HWS expect the Oracle solutions to help enhance communication with prospective students and simplify academic processes - particularly registration and advising - for both students and faculty. The applications will provide faculty and administrative users with more easily-accessible information and analysis of student and business data.

"After a rigorous software partner selection process, we chose Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise applications because they will give HWS broad functionality and operational capabilities, while also providing industry-leading technology direction," said Fred Damiano, chief information officer, Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

HWS are set to implement the first phase in late Fall 2007, rolling out CRM, EPM and Campus Solutions to deliver new and enhanced capabilities in the areas of recruiting, admissions and student retention - one of the implementation's primary strategic objectives. Oracle is scheduled to deliver subsequent modules in a phased rollout throughout 2008.

Moody Bible Institute Improves Online Marketing Campaigns
Moody Bible Institute, an undergraduate and graduate institution that offers courses at campuses in Chicago, Ill. and Spokane, Wash., as well as online, recently implemented Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Online Marketing, PeopleSoft Enterprise Recruiting and Admissions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Contributor Relations and PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal to enable management of the entire student lifecycle. This implementation is the first in a series of rollouts of PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM and PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 modules set to take place this year.

By tightly integrating CRM and recruiting and admission processes, Moody has created a platform to market its various course offerings to undergraduate, graduate and online student prospects, and to optimize each contact with each student. In its initial online marketing campaign, the institute achieved a 12 percent response rate, which would not have been possible without the Oracle applications.

"We are committed to Oracle technology and have found it meets or exceeds our current and future needs," said Frank Leber, vice president, information systems, Moody Bible Institute. "With integrated Web-based applications that manage each aspect of the student lifecycle, we can significantly improve our recruiting efforts and enhance the overall student experience."

Moody plans to continue its Oracle implementation by rolling out PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions modules for student records, student finance and enrollment in 2008. In addition, the institute is implementing PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM HelpDesk and Support to help improve the speed and quality of support systems and reduce service costs. Moody's IT infrastructure is based on Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server, and the institute uses Oracle Financials to deliver real-time insight into financial data campus-wide.
