Billing & OSS World Conference and Expo, CHICAGO
29-APR-2008 05:05 AM
- Oracle today announced that its independent software vendor (ISV) partner community for the communications industry continues to grow as Oracle works with ISVs to develop next-generation services. In addition, as part of the Oracle( Service Delivery Platform (SDP) Partner Initiative, Oracle connects its ISV partners with leading communications service providers (CSPs) to quickly deliver these new services to customers.
- To date, more than 30 partners, all members of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, have engaged in the Oracle SDP Partner Initiative. By leveraging Oracle's standards-based Service Delivery Platform (SDP), a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, ISV partners can more quickly deploy new services on current and next-generation networks.
- In today's Web 2.0 world, traditional CSPs must deliver compelling new services to compete with various emerging, alternative service providers. Many CSPs are looking to standards-based platforms to build and deploy services, including blended voice and data, on next-generation networks such as IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS). Then they must work to either develop innovative services or acquire them from third-party partners, such as ISVs. ISVs - including many small, niche companies - can quickly create services, but rely on the service providers to leverage their relationships with customers to generate revenue.
- Oracle delivers value by providing the ISV community with a standards-based software deployment platform that enables pragmatic implementations of business support system (BSS) and operational support system (OSS) applications. In assembling the SDP Partner Initiative, Oracle has reached out to a community of ISV providers for various services ranging from messaging to video sharing to IPTV to policy enforcement to subscriber management. To connect ISVs with service providers to accelerate the development and deployment of these next-generation services, Oracle hosts a series of Oracle PartnerNetwork events worldwide.
- At the heart of Oracle's SDP solution is the Oracle Communication and Mobility Server (OCMS), which provides the underlying software infrastructure and services that make a host of carrier-grade telephony and multimedia services possible using cost-effective, high-volume hardware components. OCMS enables developers to easily build, deploy and manage complex, converged applications that combine Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Web capabilities on a single platform. OCMS provides CSPs with a carrier-grade infrastructure for building new revenue-generating services while delivering the benefits of a standards-based J2EE platform. Extending the communications capabilities of Oracle Fusion Middleware, OCMS can readily interface with communications networks and existing BSS and OSS.
- Further, ISVs are better equipped to deliver revenue-generating services by integrating Oracle SDP with Oracle's end-to-end application suite for the communications industry, including Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management, Oracle Communications Service Fulfillment Suite, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Siebel CRM.
FeedHenry Delivers Revenue-Generating Widget Solutions
- FeedHenry Ltd., a leading provider of Web 2.0 and Mobile 2.0 infrastructure for the communications industry, based in Waterford, Ireland, is using OCMS to help CSPs quickly launch new, converged Web and mobile services and generate revenue through advertising.
- FeedHenry offers end-to-end solutions that enable CSPs to deploy widgets - or Web-based graphical services that display, for example, the latest news, current weather, maps, etc., on their broadband and mobile portals. CSPs can also leverage FeedHenry's SDP to make their existing network services, content and third-party services available as widgets.
- FeedHenry also provides an IMS adaptor that enables CSPs to combine IMS capabilities with widgets to create mashups. This provides a pragmatic approach to IMS service discovery and development because widgets, as the gateways to services, are easy for subscribers to discover. In addition, because they are based on Web standards, developers can build them easily and rapidly.
- With the OCMS infrastructure, which includes a third-generation programmable SIP and Presence application server, FeedHenry has gained a reliable, flexible IT system to create services rapidly, delivering a competitive advantage to CSPs who want to deploy and generate revenue from Web 2.0 applications. Currently one major European CSP is deploying FeedHenry's new tools, and various CSPs throughout Europe and the United States are trialing the solutions.
New Step Networks Provides Advanced Convergence Solutions
- New Step Networks, a fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) software provider headquartered in Toronto, leverages OCMS' presence server to provide consumers and enterprises with a flexible, personalized communications experience. By facilitating the movement of information across access technologies, New Step provides users with access to voice, video and data calls on any device, including dual-mode devices such as WiFi and cellular phones.
- To deliver these advanced convergence solutions, New Step requires real-time presence information to route calls seamlessly to the appropriate device. Through integration with OCMS, New Step empowers service providers to enhance their customers' communications experience by deploying a next-generation voice, video and data communications experience independent of the underlying network and access technologies.
- New Step and Oracle offer a combined, comprehensive solution that enables CSPs to leverage their existing network assets, along with their new infrastructure, to deliver on the promise of FMC. Several major European CSPs are working collaboratively with New Step and Oracle, while many others are exploring the solution.
- BT, Embarq and others currently utilize NewStep's technology in product and service offerings that are deployed in both consumer and enterprise environments.
WIT Software Integrates Enterprise and Mobile Applications
