More than 13 leading colleges and universities recently implemented or
selected Oracle(r) Applications and infrastructure software to streamline
processes, deliver advanced self-service capabilities and optimize system
performance to better meet institutional goals.
* Anderson University, a private university of 2,700 undergraduate and
graduate students in central Indiana, is implementing Oracle's PeopleSoft
Enterprise Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management and
PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Resources Management to help improve service to
students, faculty and staff and realize a lower total cost of ownership. The
university has gone live on modules for recruiting and admissions, registrar,
finance and student financials, and is already realizing benefits, including the
ability to offer student and faculty self-service functions. When the
applications are fully deployed, Anderson will be able to make information
continuously available to students, faculty and staff - enhancing overall
service to its constituents and helping to improve operational efficiency.
Anderson University is implementing the university-wide solutions with the
assistance of MIS Consulting.
* The North Dakota University System (NDUS), an 11 institution public
education system, including comprehensive research intensive universities,
recently completed an on-time and on-budget upgrade to PeopleSoft Enterprise
Campus Solutions 9.0 with the help of Oracle Consulting. The NDUS uses Campus
Solutions for several key business functions including admissions, recruitment,
student records and financial aid. The implementation is part of ConnectND, a
joint project between NDUS and the North Dakota state government to replace
legacy academic and state government applications with an integrated suite
composed of PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Enterprise
Financial Management and PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management.
* Indiana University (IU), with more than 99,122 students on its eight
campuses, recently upgraded to PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0,
providing - for the first time - a 360-degree view of student information
including self-service, admissions, academic and transfer credit information to
administrative staff, faculty and advisors. The "Faculty Center" allows faculty
to manage student and advisee-related activities, view complete weekly teaching
schedules and class details, search for courses and enter grades in a class
roster. The new "Student Center" tools, "Enrollment Shopping Cart" and "My
Planner," enable students to plan their schedules in advance of their
registration appointments. More than 100,000 students have registered for summer
and fall courses since the application went live in February.
* City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest urban public
university, has completed the first phase of its CUNY FIRST (Fully Integrated
Resources and Services Tool) project, which replaces its legacy financial, human
resources and student administration systems with an integrated application
suite from Oracle. The first phase, which included the implementation of
Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise General Ledger, will serve as the foundation for
CUNY's PeopleSoft Enterprise financial applications and will enable tight
integration with the PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions and PeopleSoft
Enterprise Human Capital Management in subsequent deployments. Further, the
implementation of PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal provides CUNY with a common
authenticated entry point, allowing employees to quickly and securely access the
information they need. The application suite - deployed on Oracle Database -
will allow CUNY to integrate data across the university system and improve
constituent service. CUNY also implemented PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning
Management to support training on the new applications across its campuses.
* Other leading higher education institutions recently selected Oracle:
- The University of Akron is leading the way in Ohio, where institutions are
exploring shared services as a way to improve collaboration between schools
and reduce technology spending. The institution will host PeopleSoft
Enterprise Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Enterprise Financial Management and
PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management applications for Lorain County
Community College. Oracle software is well suited for a shared services model
because of its capability to run in a multi-institutional environment and meet
governance and policy requirements.
- The Nevada System of Higher Education chose Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise
Campus Solutions for a statewide-consolidated student information system. The
NSHE collaborative system involves the College of Southern Nevada; Great Basin
College; Nevada State College; Truckee Meadows Community College; University
of Nevada, Las Vegas; University of Nevada, Reno and Western Nevada College.
- The University of Arizona, selected PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus
Solutions, leveraging earlier work done by its peer institutions, Northern
Arizona University and Arizona State University.
- Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (UTI), a public, for-profit
educational institution, has selected PeopleSoft Enterprise applications for
its new financials system. UTI provides accredited certification programs to
train automotive, diesel, marine and motorcycle technicians at its 10 campuses
throughout the United States and selected PeopleSoft Enterprise for its
capability to meet current and future needs. In addition, UTI purchased
Hyperion Budget and Planning to round out its end-to-end financial management
infrastructure.
- The University of Texas System, Texas; University of North Carolina Chapel
Hill, Chapel Hill, N.C.; Kamehameha Schools, Honolulu, Hawaii and University
of Phoenix., Phoenix, Ariz. also recently selected Oracle software.
