- Gulf Oil, a wholesale fuel distributor with more than 2,400 Gulf branded retail centers, has selected Oracle Financials, part of the Oracle(r) E-Business Suite, and Oracle Project Costing.
- The Oracle Applications will support Gulf Oil's corporate growth strategy as the company repositions itself in the marketplace, adds new Gulf Express convenience store locations and partners with distributors to provide wholesale marketing, finance and operational development.
- Gulf Oil will use Oracle Financials to help streamline and improve financial reporting while also providing a platform for growth across its diverse businesses. The company expects to close month-end reports faster and gain more precise insight to results and synergies across its core businesses.
- Oracle Project Costing will help Gulf Oil integrate cost management for all projects and activities across the enterprise and provide line managers with timely, detailed information to monitor project performance.
- Gulf Oil also uses Oracle infrastructure software, including Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware.
- Gulf Oil is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. Gulf distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,400 Gulf branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. The company also supplies petroleum products, risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial and independent retail firms.
- Gulf Oil has grown rapidly since 2005 when the company spearheaded new initiatives to change the image of Gulf, rebrand retail locations and enhance service offerings to dealers.
- The company selected Oracle after a comprehensive evaluation of competing solutions because the Oracle applications best met the company's requirements for a scalable platform and functionality that would readily support all facets of its business.
