Oracle Announces New Functionality in Oracle(r) Communications MetaSolv Solution
New Features Designed to Further Improve Support for Cable and Converged Network
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.   09-MAY-2008 05:00 AM
  • Today, Oracle announced the general availability of new functionality within Oracle(r) Communications MetaSolv Solution, including:
  • Out-of-the-box support for Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) for cable operators - a new technology module that has been added to support topographical designs of various HFC and Fiber-to-the-"X" (FTTx) network combinations.
  • Greater extensibility to allow customers even more flexibility when modifying and tailoring the application to support their specific business processes.
  • Improved circuit design layout capabilities for automatically updating circuit designs based on order characteristics, grooming/rehoming and other activities.
  • Concurrency for regulated ordering based on access service ordering guidelines (ASOG) and local service ordering guidelines (LSOG).
  • Oracle continues to develop the Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution to further enhance the product to meet evolving customer requirements. Furthermore, Oracle will provide ongoing support for the application in order to help protect customers' current and future investments in the software.
  • Concurrently, Oracle continues to develop its recently announced, Oracle Fusion Middleware-based Oracle Communications Unified Inventory Management (UIM) application that provides global communications service providers with a real-time, unified view of customer, service and resource inventory. Built natively on the TeleManagement Forum's Shared Information Data (SID), the application enables service providers to rapidly introduce and deliver customer-centric, next-generation services; improve the financial control and compliance related to their infrastructures; and deploy and manage network resources in an optimized, cost-effective manner.
  • Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution complements the newly launched UIM application by including integrated, regulated- (Access Service Request (ASR), local service request (LSR)) and unregulated ordering, comprehensive product catalog mapping (commercial-to-technical products) and out-of-the-box support for key technology domains such as cable, optical, IP, Mobile and DSL.
