Oracle Corp. (NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, was recently awarded "Best of Show" for the Oracle9i Database with Real Application Clusters on Linux, at the LinuxWorld Conference Expo. The award, sponsored by IDG in conjunction with UniForum Association, exemplifies the significance of Oracle's ongoing contribution to the Linux community, which began in 1999 with the company's release of the first commercial database on Linux.
Key criteria for the award included a product's ability to impact the Linux market as explained by judge and UniForum Association President, Alan Fedder, "We assessed the products' complexity, market reach and overall ability to benefit the marketplace.
