With Oracle 10g, independent software vendors (ISVs) and device manufacturers will be able to more easily embed the world's leading software within their solutions. Embedding an Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server directly into an application can lower operational costs, increase quality of service, and reduce risk.

Additionally, members of Oracle PartnerNetwork, Oracle's partner program, will be able to license Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Application Server 10g using Oracle's most attractive licensing available to partners - its Embedded License Option - which can lead to greater margin for partners.

A key part of the Embedded License option is the Embedded Licensing Resource Kit, which contains tools, utilities and step-by-step documentation, making it easier for ISVs to integrate the installation and configuration of Oracle software into their applications. The embedded licensing option allows ISVs to easily enhance their solutions with a low cost and low administration software infrastructure, which is particularly attractive to their small- and medium-sized customers.

Oracle Database 10g - The Ideal Embedded Database
Oracle Database 10g includes several features that make it an ideal embedded database for ISVs: a new rapid, silent install process; automation features such as automatic backup and recovery, automatic storage management, automatic memory management, and automatic optimizer statistics collection; and proactive alerts that catch exception problems.

Oracle Database 10g will also be available on a single CD that can be rapidly installed. In a Windows environment, installation is expected to take less than 17 minutes. To accelerate installation of the embedded database at the customer site, Oracle Database 10g has a new silent install feature that will automatically install the database upon installation of the ISV application. Furthermore, the silent install features will enable ISVs to maintain uniform deployments, helping reduce support issues and costs.

Using the built-in remote management capabilities, ISVs that embed Oracle 10g will be able to proactively manage workload or diagnose issues that may affect application performance at customer sites. Proactive management will allow ISVs to add value to their customers by increasing quality of service and further lowering support costs.

Oracle Application Server 10g Embedded Free of Charge
Partners can embed Oracle Application Server 10g Java Edition for free, providing their customers with a fast and reliable deployment platform for their Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications and Web sites. Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE, the core J2EE engine, has the industry's smallest footprint, making installation fast and easy. Partners can elect to embed additional components of Oracle Application Server 10g, such as portal, business intelligence and integration, to deliver comprehensive solutions to their customers.

Partners Worldwide Embed Oracle Technology to Reach Mid-Market Customers
Partners around the world, including Concord, Emerson Process Management Power & Water, KLA Tencor, Leapstone, Magnus, MICROS, OpenPages, Pitney Bowes, Revelation Retail, and Waters Data Products, already use embedded Oracle technology.
