Oracle's supply chain management (SCM) global market share increased 1 percent to 7.8 percent, and maintained its second place market share rating, helped by double-digit growth in its license revenue during the 2003 calendar year, according to a recent report by Gartner Dataquest. As reported in the Gartner Dataquest "SCM Software, Worldwide, 2003" report, Oracle's SCM software license revenue grew by 12.6 percent in 2003.
Companies grappling with globalization, outsourced manufacturing and increased operational costs, as well industry-specific challenges, continue to select Oracle(r) Supply Chain Management to achieve corporate goals. "Organizations are investing in SCM applications that provide insight into operations and ease the logistical challenges of operating a global supply chain. Oracle's supply chain applications are helping companies to not only reduce costs from daily operations, but also increase revenues across the levels of business."
Spanning all critical supply chain areas -- demand planning, fulfillment, inventory management, logistics, maintenance and service, manufacturing, order management, procurement, and product lifecycle management -- Oracle Supply Chain Management's deep functionality helps companies transform core processes to evolve their supply chains from centers of cost reduction to centers of business growth. In supply chain planning alone, a subcategory of SCM applications, Oracle experienced a 1 percent increase in market share due to a 26.4 percent increase in its license revenue, according to the report.
The manufacturing industry's focus on innovative order fulfillment and development strategies, such as build-to-order and ship-from-stock, has ignited the supply chain execution applications space. Oracle's license revenue in this essential subset of SCM applications grew by eight percent in 2003, according to the report.
