Independent research firm evaluates application server market

In its recent report, The Forrester Wave: Application Server Platform, Q3 2007, Forrester analysts evaluated nine platform vendors against 175 criteria in five different use cases. Results: "Oracle is a Leader across the board in our evaluation of application server platforms."

Oracle was named a leader in five separate customer requirement scenarios for the application server platform category, including:

• All platforms evaluated using comparable criteria.
• Conventional platforms evaluated using only Web application criteria.
• Conventional platforms evaluated using only SOA criteria.
• Application server platforms based on Java/J2EE and Java EE evaluated using a cross-section of Web and SOA criteria.
• All platforms evaluated using SOA criteria and excluding application-server features.
