Oracle's acquisition of BEA Systems signals the beginning of integration of several thriving communities: the Oracle Technology Network and BEA's Dev2Dev (Developer) and Arch2Arch (Architect) communities.
OTN Editor-in-Chief, Justin Kestelyn has set the tone with his welcome blog post, and has set up a group on Oracle Mix to help technologists on both sides of the equation make connections and get answers. "Dev2Dev/Arch2Arch and OTN are actually quite similar," says Kestelyn, " whether in terms of philosophy/macro-approach, events, Website information architecture, or community tools. So I'm confident that disruption will be minimal."
BEA users are encouraged to join the Oracle Mix group for BEA Developers and Architects to ask questions, provide feedback, and make connections. "We'll be asking for feedback at every step of the way through the Oracle Mix group," says Kestelyn, "and comments are appreciated," he adds. "I want to welcome BEA users to the Oracle Technology Network Community, and I can only hope that they'll welcome us back!"
