McGuigans Uncorks Efficiency Benefits with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne- McGuigans
wine empire blends Oracle Database 10g with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne for consolidation
and Sydney, Australia, 19 May 2006 – Oracle Australia, together with Jigsaw Services - a Certified Advantage Partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork - today announced that Australia’s largest wine distributor, McGuigans has purchased licenses for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne on Oracle Database 10g, providing the company with an integrated platform for all of its financial management needs. McGuigans has moved to consolidate its financial management system after a series of acquisitions in the past few years, including the addition of Simeon Wines, and the acquisition of a packaging business from the Fosters Group in Merbein. These acquisitions have added to the complexity of the company’s financial software platform and brought many integration problems. McGuigans said the adoption of JD Edwards enterprise software modules will result in widespread business efficiencies by having all of its financial systems on one, easily integrated platform. “After several acquisitions, we had a myriad of different systems across our organisation,” said Ryan Klose, CIO, McGuigans. “The JD Edwards solution resolved the specific management challenge of managing and consolidating these new lines of business. It also allowed us to create a standardised application environment which can be implemented across the company.” McGuigans performed extensive due diligence before extending the suite of JD Edwards software modules in its various divisions. Mr Klose said the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne met all of the company’s criteria against competition from other major ERP vendors. He was impressed by the way in which the solution was able to provide instant visibility into data across the business, the flexibility of the software, and its ease of integration. “It was clearly the best-of-breed solution for a company of our size in terms of price and functionality,” said Mr Klose. “The user interface was well received by our staff and we expect to see a return on investment within 12 to 18 months.” McGuigans said another important factor in the decision was Oracle’s partner in South Australia, Jigsaw Services. “Jigsaw’s speed, agility and skill set will contribute to a very fast implementation time, which is crucial in keeping delivery times as short as possible for a quick return on investment,” said Klose. In a phased approach, McGuigans
will deploy JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Supply Chain Management manufacturing bundle
for procurement and packaging management in May, and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne
Financial Management modules will be implemented in the following financial
year. Underpinning the applications will be Oracle Database 10g. Oracle recently detailed its long-term commitment to provide continued enhancements to current Oracle Applications, including JD Edwards products beyond the delivery of Oracle Fusion Applications in 2008. This new strategy, known as “Applications Unlimited” will provide JD Edwards customers with greater visibility into product roadmaps and help them derive continual success from their current applications. McGuigans has annual sales of $400 million and more than 800 staff spread over eight primary sites across Australia, including the famous Barossa Valley, Hunter Valley and Riverland regions.
