Oracle and Lisbon Council host Europe's first 'Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day'
On 6th November 2007, Oracle joined forces with the Lisbon Council, Europe's premier think tank on the knowledge economy, to host the inaugural
'Innovation and Entrepreneurship Day' in Brussels. More than 80 entrepreneurs from 14 countries convened to learn and work under the theme
'Growth and Opportunity in the Enlarged EU: What's in it for Small-and-Medium-Sized Enterprises?'
As well as proving a powerful networking event, the aim of the day was to deliver some tangible benefits and take-home value to attendees by showcasing trends and lessons in innovation for European SMEs. Delegates debated key issues such as the age of collaboration, financing for innovation and growth, and opportunities for the EU's single market while enjoying central discussions led by Charlie McCreevy, European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services; Francis Carpenter, Chief Executive Officer of the European Investment Fund and bestselling Web 2.0 author Don Tapscott.
