Oracle and Málaga City Council Reach out to Technology Companies Relocating to Andalucia
Oracle and Málaga City Council have partnered to provide a raft of welcome services to help incoming companies integrate into Andalucia's growing IT business community. The services range from information about local amenities and facilities to IT support for european businesses provided by Oracle's Málaga International Consulting Centre. The initiative will be widely marketed and is expected to encourage businesses from across Europe to relocate to southern Spain.
Málaga City Council (
www.malaga.eu ) and Oracle Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) have signed an agreement to support technology companies that move to Málaga for the first time, providing staff and their families with the information and contacts they need to relocate and build new lives.
Together, Málaga City Council and Oracle EMEA have set up a group called Comisión Municipal de Recepción to help people to set up facilities and find the services they need ranging from housing, healthcare, and schooling, to organizing culture, sports and commercial activities. The agreement forms part of Málaga City Council's aim for the city to become a leading technology landmark in Europe, by offering the support network to attract fresh talent and encourage technology companies to move to Málaga.
With a technology park and a prestigious university, Málaga is keen to strengthen its reputation as a city leading the economic growth of Andalucia and to offer quality, world-class services for new technology companies.
The agreement builds on the momentum created by the development of Oracle's Málaga International Consulting Centre (MICC), which offers IT consulting services to the european business community. The MICC is located at Andalucia's Technological Park and is building a team and infrastructure to provide resources for different projects in several countries. It will employ bilingual professionals with a high standard of technology qualifications. The Centre will promote itself across Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Holland, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland in order to attract potential visitors to Spain.
"Oracle Málaga International Consulting Centre demonstrates Oracle’s commitment to finding creative ways to offer services to our clients and colleagues. We’re keen to motivate colleagues and other businesses to move to Málaga by showing them that we have the technology, social and business network in place to support people who decide to move to the city," said Marcel Bos, Senior Vice President Consulting, Western Continental Europe, Oracle.
To incentivize companies to settle in Málaga and to support employees who have been transferred to work in the city, Málaga's City Council offers advice to help people integrate into a new social and business environment. The advice and support includes:
- A welcome pack
- Details of facilities for housing, health, schooling, parking and assistance for the disabled
- Guidance and information for foreigners who may need to process paperwork
- Information on public services such as telephone, water, gas and electricity supply
- Details on City Council services such as transportation, taxes, leisure, tourism, culture, sports and commercial activities
The agreement was signed by Málaga's City Mayor, D. Francisco de la Torre Prados, who represented the City Council and Marcel Bos, Senior Vice President Consulting Western Continental Europe, on behalf of Oracle. The event at Malaga's city hall was also attended by Oracle representatives: Miguel Milano Aspe, VP TSBU Iberia and Country Leader Spain; Luis Fernando González Velásco, VP Consulting Strategic Initiatives Western Continental Europe; and Cristina Castillo Gordillo, MICC Director. The City Hall was represented by Technologies Town Councilor, Francisco Salas.
