ORACLE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF SOON
CHOO LOKE TO REGIONAL MANAGING DIRECTOR, ORACLE GREATER CHINA
Hong Kong, May 14, 2002 - Oracle Corp.
(NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today
announced that Soon Choo Loke, formerly Regional Managing Director, South
Asia, has been appointed Regional Managing Director, Oracle Greater China.
Soon Choo succeeds P. W. Pong, who is retiring. Keith Budge, currently
Managing Director of Singapore, in turn assumes concurrent responsibility
for Soon Choo’s role as Regional Managing Director, South Asia.
Soon Choo’s appointment signifies Oracle’s continued
commitment to providing the most qualified support and executive leadership
to Oracle Greater China. Oracle recently announced its intention to expand
its operations in China via several new initiatives, including the Oracle
China Development Center in Shenzhen, and the upcoming OracleWorld conference
to be held in Beijing this June.
“After more than a decade of development within Greater
China, Oracle is now not only ready to take advantage of new opportunities
in the region, but also uniquely positioned to help accelerate the region’s
development,” said Derek Williams, executive vice president, Oracle
Asia Pacific. “Soon Choo brings a great deal of experience to his new
role as Regional Managing Director of Oracle Greater China, including
his nearly five years as Regional Managing Director of Oracle South Asia,
and he has worked very closely with the team at Oracle Greater China to
ensure a smooth transition. I am confident that Soon Choo will continue
the tradition of excellent leadership and management that we’ve had
with his predecessor, P.W. Pong.”
In addition to his experience as Regional Managing Director
of Oracle South Asia, Soon Choo also has held the position of Managing
Director, Oracle Singapore, and formerly was a general manager of Asia
Pacific Breweries Limited. Soon Choo previously held senior positions
in IBM, Siemens Nixdorf Singapore and Siemens China.
