Shanghai Welcomes Customers and Partners to Oracle® OpenWorld in July

Global Conference to Spotlight Key Business and Technology Solutions

Hong Kong, May 18, 2004 - China and Asia welcome back Oracle® OpenWorld – Oracle’s global business and technology conference – to the region as the event is set to take place in China’s industrial and commercial hub of Shanghai, July 19 - 22, 2004.

The event, which made its debut in Beijing, China in 2002, will feature more than 150 sessions developed specifically for business managers, IT managers and government officials. The Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai conference is expected to attract more than 4,000 delegates, including developers, customers and partners. Top executives at Oracle will deliver keynotes, including Oracle Corporation President Charles Philips and Oracle Asia Pacific Executive Vice President Derek Williams.

"One of the biggest challenges businesses worldwide face today is how to make the best use of technology to help grow business. Oracle has been actively developing technologies and solutions for customers across all industries, enabling them to deploy integrated IT solutions across the entire enterprise," said Derek Williams, executive vice president of Oracle Asia Pacific. "Oracle remains as committed as ever to helping enterprises in Asia Pacific to excel in the increasingly competitive global business environment."

"China and Asia have become an epicenter within the business world – certainly as a formidable market in its own right, but also as the home of rising global businesses," said Williams. "As one of the largest and fastest growing cities in China, Shanghai is a fitting and vibrant backdrop for delegates to Oracle’s premiere global event."

The Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai sessions will focus on key business areas:

  • Industries – including discrete manufacturing (automotive and high-tech), process manufacturing (metals/steel, chemicals and pharmaceuticals), financial services (banking, insurance and capital market), public sector/government, telecommunications and transportation/travel (airlines and airports).
  • Technology and applications products – including Oracle 10g/Grid, Real Application Clusters, application server, integration, wireless, information architecture consolidation and security.

Oracle technology and application products will be displayed at 50 demo stations on-site. An exhibition hall will also showcase more than 60 of Oracle’s strategic partners.

"Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai is where Oracle, our key customers and partners will showcase their latest products and services and share their success stories in business management and technology deployment in China, and is a key milestone in our 15-year history in this country," said Loke Soon Choo, regional managing director of Oracle Greater China.
