Oracle Asia Pacific Goes For Market Leadership In Enterprise Applications

Focused Team and Management, Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.10, Strategic Programs for HRMS and Smaller Businesses - Key to Helping Accelerate Growth of Regional Applications Business

Hong Kong, December 7, 2004 - Oracle outlined today its market-driven strategy to grow its applications business significantly and gain leadership in Asia-Pacific’s enterprise applications market. The applications business is a major focal point of Oracle’s longer-term market strategy and growth.

Oracle’s three-pronged approach for its applications business in Asia Pacific is focused on:

  • Helping companies of all sizes – from small businesses to global enterprises – to reduce the cost and complexity associated with information technology (IT) and business systems management;
  • Addressing the needs of key industries; and,
  • Accelerating growth by addressing new opportunities in emerging markets, including China and India.

Underpinning Oracle Asia Pacific’s unprecedented focus to accelerate its applications business is the recent alignment of its regional operations around three focus areas – Applications, Technology and Industries. With dedicated management, sales, consulting, market development and support resources for each business unit, Oracle has significantly enhanced capability to meet the evolving needs of its customers and to strategically address new revenue opportunities in each area.

The company’s strategic focus on applications and key industries, coupled with its solutions leadership with the latest applications release Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.10, place Oracle in the strongest position yet to achieve leadership in the highly competitive enterprise applications market.

Dedicated Resources and Leadership to Address Opportunities and Drive Applications Business

Oracle has continued to gain momentum by working closely with customers, industry-specific user groups and partners to help drive development and adoption of Oracle applications. More than 2,000 customers in Asia Pacific are using Oracle applications – including enterprise resource management (ERM); supply chain management (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM), as well as market-leading applications technology. Organisations are effectively integrating and managing information and business processes across the enterprise, enabling them to reduce IT cost and complexity, enhance business visibility and intelligence, and achieve faster return on investments (ROI).

Oracle has a rapidly growing network of partners in Asia Pacific to implement and support Oracle applications. Independent software vendors and system integrators also develop their own applications software to run on the Oracle platform and integrate with Oracle applications. Partner solutions developed on the integrated Oracle Information Architecture ensures the least integration complexity and costs to end customers.

To achieve its goal to significantly accelerate growth and market share, Oracle has put in place dedicated management, sales, marketing, market development, consulting and support teams to focus exclusively on driving its applications business.

Mark Gibbs, a 13-year Oracle veteran with experience in management, consulting and business development, has been appointed to lead the Applications business unit. Gibbs is developing and managing the applications sales and partner channel, as well as executing a market strategy focused on addressing the needs of existing and prospective customers, along with new market opportunities.

"The Applications team in Asia Pacific has core Oracle and industry expertise that will help us achieve our goal of market leadership in applications," said Mark Gibbs, vice president, Applications, Oracle Asia Pacific. "Oracle’s unique proposition in the industry is the ability to provide end-to-end information management software solutions – from business applications to core technology. Since applications in the Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.10 are built on a single, unified Information Architecture, the single data model ensures that customers benefit from consistent, accurate and enterprise-wide data. The result of this is improved business intelligence and operational performance, as well as significant cost savings by eliminating the need for software integration. These are key factors for companies to reduce complexity and total cost of ownership of their IT infrastructure."
