Hong Kong, March 30, 2006 - The successful
adoption of Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database technology at the Hong
Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) sets a real-life example for the time-critical
industries in the region. As the first enterprise customer in Greater
China to deploy Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database, the HKJC is enabled
to aggregate, correlate and process massive data volumes for real time
business intelligence during football match activities. The memory optimized
relational database technology offers an excellent model of how enterprises
in time-critical industries can successfully make themselves into real-time
enterprises.
Horse racing is the most popular spectator sport in Hong Kong and the HKJC is the city's only authorized operator. It also operates the Hong Kong Government's Mark Six Lottery and under government authority offers fixed odds betting on football matches held outside Hong Kong. With all its businesses relying on interfacing with its huge customer base and online applications, much of HKJC's IT system focuses on its ability to process information in real-time.
