Oracle and Partners Drive Industry-Focused, Standards-Based Solutions For SMBs

Small and Medium Businesses to Benefit from Affordable, Low Risk Industry-Specific
Applications Bundles

Hong Kong, March 28, 2007 - To increase the competitiveness of small and medium businesses (SMBs) in Hong Kong and across the region, Oracle has teamed up with local partners to launch a portfolio of industry-specific application solutions. These Oracle-based solutions from Oracle's partners are specially designed, packaged and priced for SMBs, with the aim of enabling them to adopt modern technologies easily while reducing IT complexity and costs. Across Asia Pacific, Oracle is working with more than 50 of its partners to launch some 80 industry-specific applications solutions to address the needs of companies in more than 30 industry segments across 14 countries.

This move is part of the global Oracle Accelerate program, which is Oracle's approach to meet the diverse IT requirements of SMBs by combining partner expertise with the industry's most comprehensive software portfolio, comprising both Oracle applications and technology solutions. Oracle today serves more than 25,000 SMB customers in the Asia Pacific region and more than 190,000 SMB customers globally.

Under the Oracle Accelerate program, Oracle applications – including the Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft Enterprise, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Siebel – are combined with rapid implementation methodologies, such as Oracle Business Accelerators, as well as Oracle partners' industry solutions and services to deliver efficient deployments, faster return on investments and reduced risk for SMBs. Oracle Accelerate will provide SMBs with highly scalable, integrated solutions delivered by Oracle partners for managing industry-specific processes and key business operations, such as the management of finance and accounting, human resources, supply chain and customer relationships.

As Oracle applications are based on open standards and are designed to run on standards-based Oracle database and middleware solutions, they provide a superior alternative to other proprietary business systems for SMBs in reducing complexity and total cost of ownership. Businesses are able to build flexible, adaptable IT infrastructures and adopt modern technologies such as service-oriented architecture (SOA), which are critical to enabling SMBs to respond quickly to new business opportunities, customer demands and changes in operating conditions.

Oracle Partners Seize New Opportunities By Delivering Affordable, High-Value Implementations
The Hong Kong launch of Oracle Accelerate showcased SMB-oriented software application solutions from three local partners – Bechelon Consulting Ltd., Great Asia Solutions Ltd. and Jardine OneSolution (HK) Ltd. – which are the first partners to apply for Oracle Accelerate certification. They all offer industry-focused solutions and rapid implementation methodologies that enable SMBs to quickly adopt complete business systems that enable them to meet their specific business requirements and achieve a fast return on investment.

Bechelon Consulting's DO-RAPID-BMP is a powerful software application solution specially designed to accommodate the complex business structures of SMB manufacturers with pan-regional operations. Deployment of the solution enables automation and integration of many demanding manual processes such as inter-company accounting, customs declarations for raw materials, engineering changes, and material arrangement and scheduling. Business intelligence tools are also provided through deployment of the solution to increase the internal visibility of critical business information, enabling management to make better decisions to drive efficiencies and profitability.

Great Asia Solutions' DO-RAPID-FIM is designed to deliver complete business management systems for the hospitality and retail industries. The Hospitality Pack enables tight control of margin-sensitive products, streamlines material management, creates instant and accurate "market lists", simplifies purchase control and automates hospitality-sector financial management processes. The DO-RAPID-FIM Retail Pack provides industry-specific features such as increased inventory visibility, point-of-sale integration with purchasing processes, key performance indicator reports of sales and suppliers, and automated financial management specially designed for Hong Kong retailers.

Jardine OneSolution (JOS) is focusing on SMBs in the wholesale distribution industry, in which companies have to deal with complex pricing and costing information as a result of globalization, marketing campaigns and product packaging. The wholesale distribution industry companies also struggles to meet fluctuating demand for different product mixes which impacts forecasting and inventory availability. The JOS' solution for wholesale distribution contains an advanced pricing module to cope with this pricing complexity, and integrates vendor, procurement and inventory management – with support for multiple distribution centres – to address the problems of demand forecasting and inventory. It also includes a user-defined workflow and order activity rules to address the problems arising from geographically dispersed teams.

To assist partners in developing their Oracle Accelerate applications solutions, Oracle provides additional industry and SMB-specific tools and training including: Oracle Business Accelerators, business process flows, recommended practices and supporting promotional materials and collateral and suggested pricing guidelines. New resources and services have been added to assist Oracle partners to bring lower cost, higher value solutions to customers. These include:

  • Oracle Applications SMB Pricing Model – New SMB pricing for partners allows special discounts, flexibility for bundling of appropriate products for each solution and a streamlined process to provide the customer clear, easy-to-understand and predictable pricing.
  • Oracle Accelerate Solutions Catalog – A new designation in the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) Solutions Catalog that showcases Oracle Accelerate solutions provided by partners in online searches. Partners can be searched by geography, industry vertical and application product family.
  • New Campaigns Collaboration – Oracle will help partners with Oracle Accelerate solutions locate and market to potential customers fitting the partners' unique solution profiles.
  • Referral Fee Program – New Oracle SMB Applications referral program includes guidelines on how to identify software needs, a dedicated referral website, and incentives for top referrers.
  • Partner Loyalty Program – A new Oracle Accelerate Partner Loyalty program, launching next fiscal year, will allow partners to qualify for increasing levels of training, and sales and marketing resources, and funding for partners promoting their Oracle Accelerate solutions.
