Oracle Posts Fastest Growth among Middleware Server Vendors in China

Service-Oriented Architecture Adoption and Partner Enhancement are Growth Drivers

ORACLE OPENWORLD ASIA PACIFIC, SHANGHAI, China, August 1, 2007 - Oracle announced today that it continues to outpace and take market share from its middleware competitors in China. According to IDC, Oracle grew 53% in China's dedicated application server software market in 2006, faster than its two nearest competitors and gaining more than two points of market share1.

Vice President of Technology Sales for Oracle Greater China Stanley Chew said, "Oracle Fusion Middleware is growing rapidly in China. More customers in China are choosing Oracle Application Server over the competition and benefiting from its unmatched scalability, availability, manageability and security."

Oracle Application Server, a key component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, offers the industry's most comprehensive solution for developing, integrating, and deploying an enterprise's applications, portals, and Web services. Based on a powerful and scalable J2EE server, Oracle Application Server is the only platform designed for grid computing as well as full lifecycle support for a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).

Oracle Application Server 10g, a key component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, together with Oracle Database 10g, set a record-breaking result in the SPECjAppServer2004 industry standard benchmark by delivering the highest performance per core across all platforms and application servers2. Surpassing the best per core performance of IBM WebSphere3 and BEA WebLogic4, these results continue Oracle's excellence in setting world records in Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application server benchmarks.

Oracle Fusion Middleware helps businesses in China run, secure, adapt, and expand their business. Public and private organizations in China that chose Oracle Fusion Middleware in its fiscal year 2007, ended May 31, 2007, include: Guangdong Mobile and Guangdong Telecom in the communications industry; Zhejiang Power in the utility sector; Weichai Power in the manufacturing industry; Shanghai Lotus Supermarket in the retail sector; Beijing Public Security Traffic Management Bureau, Hebei Health Bureau, Jiangsu Waterway Bureau, Shanghai Education Bureau, Shanghai Food and Drug Authority, Shanghai Medical Bureau, Shanghai Yangpu Central Community and Zhejiang Environment Bureau in the government sector; Shanghai Research Center for Biology Information Technology in the education sector; PICC Life and Shanghai Stock Exchange in the financial services industry.
