Oracle Sees Strong Customer Momentum Across Key Industries in China in FY07

Oracle Technology, Applications & Support Drive Customer Adoption & Partnerships

ORACLE OPENWORLD ASIA PACIFIC, SHANGHAI, China, August 1, 2007 - Oracle is seeing strong customer momentum as organizations across key industries in China select Oracle solutions - Oracle Applications, Oracle Database and Oracle Fusion Middleware - as the strategic platform for their company-wide IT systems. Across FY07, Oracle experienced continued growth in demand from many industry sectors in China, in particular financial services, insurance, public sector, education, healthcare, communications, utilities, manufacturing, retail, distribution, automotive, travel and transportation, amongst others.

Organizations across growth industries adopted or expanded implementations of Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Applications - including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and Siebel solutions, as well as industry-specific applications under the umbrella brands of Oracle Communications, Oracle Retail, Oracle Utilities, and Oracle Financial Services.

Oracle is today the number one enterprise software vendor in a number of key industries across Asia Pacific and in China, such as banking, financial markets, education, communications& media and process manufacturing1.

One of the drivers fuelling Oracle's momentum is the growing demand amongst customers across key industries for a strategic partner that can provide them with innovative, end-to-end business software solutions, with deep industry capabilities. This is key to helping them address business challenges, such as improving business agility, achieving cost efficiencies, and deliver superior customer service.

"Customer growth in China has been very strong this year," said Roger Li, regional managing director, Oracle Greater China. "Across key industries, we are winning more deals as customers increasingly prefer a single vendor who can meet all their needs. Customers today recognize and choose Oracle as their strategic IT partner because we offer a unique combination of the industry's most comprehensive enterprise software stack, innovative industry-specific solutions based on open standards, and first-class, round-the-clock support."

Oracle Customers Reap Positive Results from Leveraging Oracle Solutions
Customers like Huadian Power International, Aviva-Cofco, Sinosteeel Corporation and Midea Group attest to the positive impact that Oracle solutions are bringing to their business. This has helped reinforce the leadership position of these companies within their respective industries.

"Our Oracle-based ERP system has helped us streamline processes and establish sound management and cost control systems. We now have complete control over every aspect of our business," said Zhong Tonglin, Executive Vice General Manager, Huadian Power International Corporation Limited.

"The fierce competition in China's insurance industry has called for Aviva-Cofco to adopt the latest business management applications to improve efficiency and lower costs," said Zhang Wenwei, President, Aviva-Cofco Life Insurance Co., Ltd. "Aviva-Cofco is the first company in China to set up a shared services center. By establishing the financial shared services center with Oracle's applications, Aviva-Cofco has taken an important step towards its goal of becoming a top-class insurance company."

"The implementation of Oracle solutions is a major milestone in our efforts to deploy a modern management system," said Huang Tianwen, President, Sinosteel Corporation. "We introduced cutting-edge applications software from Oracle as the foundation to build a sophisticated information platform to support Sinosteel's global operations. We continue to work with Oracle to improve our informatization practice, as this forms a very important mechanism for the future development of our company."

"We have established an order-driven business model with Oracle Supply Chain Management. This not only helps us to optimize internal business processes, improve collaboration with our vendors and expand to other markets overseas, it also supports our long term business growth plans," said Guang Zhengkuang, Director of Information Technology Management, Midea Group. Midea Group is one of the top electronic home appliances manufacturers in China. Midea Group has an ambitious goal of becoming one of the top five home appliances manufacturers in the world by 2010.

To help meet this increased customer demand, Oracle has made strategic investments to expand its presence and operations across the country. To date, Oracle has established eight new branch offices in Shenyang, Dalian, Nanjing, Jinan, Xi'an, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Fuzhou.
