Latest Version of Oracle Strategic Network Optimization Enables Customers to Alleviate Supply Chain Risk

Enhanced Capabilities Allow Companies to Design Profitable Risk Mitigation Strategies for Planned and Unplanned Supply Chain Disruptions

Hong Kong , October 25, 2007 - As part of Oracle's Supply Chain Risk Management initiative aimed at helping customers design and implement flexible, risk-tolerant supply chains, Oracle today announced the latest version of Oracle Strategic Network Optimization. With this latest release, Oracle Strategic Network Optimization delivers the insight companies require to optimize global supply chain operations and deploy improved risk mitigation strategies. This will benefit both Oracle Application customers, as well as companies using products such as SAP, i2 and Manugistics or other legacy systems.

Oracle Strategic Network Optimization is an easy to use, rapid response solution that enables organizations of all sizes to analyze the potential impact of supply chain disruptions, develop long-range plans and create holistic supply strategies to make more informed, profitable business decisions. Built-in scenario comparison views enable customers to perform comprehensive "what-if" analyses in order to better establish pre-emptive measures that help mitigate potential supply chain risks.  With insight into all of the data related to the supply chain, companies are equipped to make the most cost-effective and least risky decision for both short- and long-term profitability.

The latest release of Oracle Strategic Network Optimization makes it easier for customers to model and prepare for planned and unplanned disruptions to the supply chain. Now with a more agile infrastructure, customers are able to quickly and intelligently respond to these events and maintain a competitive advantage.

Enhancements to Oracle Strategic Network Optimization include:

  • New capabilities to simulate unplanned events such as natural disasters, unexpected disruptions in the supply chain or spikes in demand can be easily analyzed to reduce uncertainty and improve supply chain agility.
  • A redesigned Scenario Manager provides improved usability with an intuitive user interface and navigation that enables users to conduct event modeling that supports supply chain risk management.
  • A new Key Performance Indicators view provides users with enhanced scenario management capabilities and supply chain performance insight with KPIs and multiple chart types for easy scenario comparison, and tabular detailed views.
  • Improved Alert Management with a new Intuitive Alerts Workspace that allows planners to quickly manage exceptions, categorize alerts by business function, view and drill-down to exceptions and define filters by type, tolerance, and time periods.
  • Better Usability is delivered through new node icons, a redesigned find/replace interface, new toolbar icons and map legend improvements.

"With Oracle Strategic Network Optimization, companies can be assured they're making the right decisions before they put strategies into effect," said Jasbir Singh, senior director, Supply Chain Management Applications, Oracle Asia Pacific. "These decisions are truly optimized because they're based on the facts, not on an educated guess. Optimized planning allows companies of all sizes to effectively manage their networks, thus helping to ensure they incur the lowest cost for producing each product they sell, while minimizing supply chain risk and maximizing revenues."
